Chevrolet came up with a number of sporty Super Nova variants even before General Motors gave its go-ahead for the F-Car (Camaro) program in Aug. 1964.

Italian coachbuilder Frua displayed rebodied 1968 Camaro hatchback at Paris show. Special wheelcovers went on car right after this photo was taken.

1969 early styling was a grille-less look, thank God this look didn't make production.

Now this is a little more like it. Mean looking is what we wanted in those days.

Station-Wagon versions of Camaro and Firebird would probably have been produced if basic coupe doors and rear-fender panels had interchanged.

These are some early designs for the 2nd generation Camaro's

These pictures are only a small sample of the many changes and modifications that went into developing the Camaro. The Engineers did it right because what came to the Car Dealers Show Room was a car that made its name in Racing History. A 1967 Z-28 with its 302cid engine put out nearly 400bhp and ate every Mustang from Maine to California. Then there always is the 1969 ZL-1, an aluminim block, 427cid, 425 bhp car that ate any and everything on wheels.
